I've been doin the same, for example, as the person in bro Tariq's example, and the longer you make excuses for yourself, the harder it becomes (ie. the longer you explain to yourself for example that I have the right to overeat/oversleep/overinsertchosennafsthing, the harder it becomes to change your ways). Another idiotic thing we keep repeatin to ourselves tho is that we *can't* change. What arrogance! as if it's actually us being the true actors of our deeds.. I really like this blog mashaAllah. and I really like the fact you guys update it so often. I feel as though the nafs is like a covering between us and Allah SWT. The more we indulge in our desires the thicker that covering becomes and the more we give up on our desires for the sake of Allah SWT the thinner that covering becomes. To struggle against the nafs could be likened to having a big appetite and being obese to the point where one's heart is in danger, a srict and prolonged regime of diet is nessecary to avoid it, hard as it may be, if one fails, the loss could be fatal. I dont think anyone can really stand up and say truthfully that they do not act upon their desires from time to time, if there is such a soul, I would dearly love to meet!
